When the social media world seemed hopelessly in love with photo and video content, Meta launched Instagram Threads in July of this year. But not for the public in the European Union. Since last Thursday, however, the application is also available in the EU.
Although it is a clone of X and the text platforms have been out of fashion for some time, Threads managed to reach 100 million users in just 5 days and has a good chance of exceeding 150 million users soon. However, the activity in the application is much lower, the public not being present constantly and for a long time in the application.

What Is Threads?
Threads, an Instagram application, enables users to explore and exchange public discussions. Through this micro-blogging platform, users have the capability to publish conversations, engage in replies, and follow profiles of interest. Within these conversations and replies, individuals can incorporate concise texts, links, images, videos, or a blend of these elements.

How To Use Threads?
On the web, on threads.net, or in the mobile application (iOS and Android), after installation, you will be asked to log in with your Instagram username and password. Then you complete a bio and upload a picture or take this information directly from Instagram. It’s worth noting that anyone with an Instagram account has the ability to create a Threads profile. Threads automatically assigns the same username you have on Instagram to your account.
Individuals have the option to follow your profile, granting them access to view your posts and replies within their feeds or directly from your profile. The visibility of your posts is controlled by your profile’s privacy settings and other configured preferences. Users can engage with your posts by responding to foster discussions, or expressing approval through likes, shares, quotes, or reposts.

How Can You Find Your Friends?
Upon activating your account, you might discover that you already have followers on Threads. These followers are likely individuals with whom you interact on Instagram. Once you’ve finished setting up your bio and selected your desired account privacy (public or private), you can then choose to follow specific friends from Instagram or follow all of them.
At this time, Threads does not display advertising and only shows you content from the accounts you follow. At least, that’s what they promised.
