Have you ever wondered what is it like to volunteer? Oh, you have already done that…But have you volunteered in Africa? I can assure you this is an experience you will always cherish.

What a does it take to volunteer in an African country? Have a look at our suggestion:

  • Have an indestructible wish for helping others;
  • Wish to make the world a better place;
  • You are empathetic;
  • Have a passport.

What volunteering involves?

Depending on which mobility you choose, it involves different things, such as:

  • teaching children a new language
  • cooking for a canteen
  • going into trips with childre

The perfect mobility

What makes a mobility perfect? Well, this depends on you only, most of the time.

What do you have to take into account before choosing your mobilities? Well, what you like to do! You like medicine and/or have a medical background, then choose a medical mobility (such as medical helper). If you like children, volunteer in a daycare.

Beside choosing your filed, it is important to have nice people to share your work with, but don`t worry, usually, volunteers are very social, friendly and empathetic.

So, before choosing your next mobility, make sure that you envision the future. A little bit at least, so you can make the best out of it!

Tanzania – English Teacher Volunteer​

Even if your mother tongue is English or not, or if you have a degree in education or not, you can still volunteer as a teacher in one (or more) African country.

As you know, going into mobility is not only registering for it. You have to go through an interview and you have to be accepted for it, similar to a job interview, but funnier and more informal. For this mobility, within the interview, you will have to go through a language test as well, where your capacity will be our main focus.

Don’t worry, we will not expect you to be a Harvard student, you will most probably teach kindergarten pupils, but you must have some knowledge.

Tanzania – Childcare Volunteer​

Child care volunteer jobs often involve working with children in a variety of settings, such as schools, community centres, orphanages or day care centres. Specific requirements may vary depending on the organization or program you are volunteering with, but in general, here are some common aspects of childcare volunteering:

  • loving spending time with children, sometimes with toddlers and newborns;
  • You will probably need some trainings beforehand;
  • You, for sure, need patience;
  • You have to be open to a multicultural environment and have respect for diversity;
  • Being a volunteer in such a sensitive environment, usually require a Firts Aid Certification.
