Knowing I’m gonna visit Barcelona for the third, I thought to myself this time I will take it easy. No more maniacal research and planning each minute. This time I will take time to admire places with no hurry, I will let my eyes see things from another perspective and enjoy the vibe this young, fresh, unconventional, and unsettled city has to offer.
After all, this is a girls trip. We are ready to explore the city, drink Cava and eat tapas.
Day 1
We arrived in Barcelona at 9:00 in the morning. Left our luggage at the AirBNB reception until the apartment would be ready for check in and we went straight to the place I consider the best market I’ve seen by far, La Boqueria .
Then we took a walk on foot from Boqueria to Gaudi’s masterpiece, Casa Batlo .
And spent all day visiting the surroundings.
Day 2
We woke up with the plan in our mind to spend our day at Park Guell and Sagrada Familia. Said and done. And what fun we had…
And the fun would not have ended if we hadn’t had a shock when returned to the accommodation.
Our AirdBnb had been turned upside-down. My laptop and my friend’s money were missing. Somebody entered in our apartment and search through every corner of the place.
First thing first we called at AirBnb reception and explained our problem. The guy treated us carelessly and mentioned that this type of incident only happened one time before and that’s because the tourists staying there forgot the door open. I thought it’s a bad joke until the guy ended the call in my face and didn’t answered the calls only when changed the number.
We called the police but unfortunately the police can’t take declaration on this type of situation, only a demand at their office can register the theft.
Next morning I was supposed to fly to Lisbon. I didn’t had the necessary time to go to police. Web Summit was knocking at my door. I had to let that horrible incident there and move further.
The AirdBnb attitude was bitterly disappointing and I cannot recommend any longer their services. I don’t trust them anymore and I do think that somebody from the reception point where we left our luggage and laptop had seen it and was involved in a way or another into the incident.
As a final tip, I recommend all those who travel to have a travel insurance for health and goods.
