Everyone thought to themselves at least once, why should we read? Why is it important? Or for people who enjoy reading on a daily basis the fear of potentially wasting time by reading fiction, was common.
Reading for me, represents study of course, but more so, an activity that means unwinding and discovering things that I have not known before. For me it means getting to know the characters and their process of thought, their story and page by page, chapter by chapter and even volume by volume, being a part of the universe the author has created, even for maybe just a bit.

First of all, I just want to debunk the saying that if you read fiction you waste your time, or it is not the same as reading something that is more anchored in reality. You should read whatever makes you happy, whether it might be historical romance books, or sci-fi, or autobiographies. There is no such rule that you must read something in order to be a part of the reader community, I strongly believe that everyone is more than welcome.
Now to more scientific things, according to a post on https://www.thehealthy.com named Why Reading is Important, we find out that “reading energizes the brain” and it improves the brain to work harder and better, improving the memory and having long-lasting effects, that are said to reduce the risk of Dementia and memory-related issues that come once we reach the old age.
Still not on board with reading? Well no worries, I still have some videos that might convince you otherwise.
I chose 4fara15’s video because I admire her and I really find comfort and inspiration in her videos. Also Jack Close has a short, animated, filled with information video that has been really fun to watch. Hopefully you’ll enjoy them both just as much as I did. 🙂
