Acceptance VS Resignation

We often come across situations that we cannot change, and in those moments we choose to resign or accept the situation. I recently found out and realized that there is a big difference between the two, which we can feel over time.

Resignation means undergoing an experience and submission means that you do not actually accept.

When you accept something, it means that you understand the need for the experience you are going through and its role in your evolution. It does not mean that you want similar experiences, it does not mean that you have to like it or that you agree with what happened, it does not mean that you claim that you are not hurt or that you do not suffer.

Acceptance, on the other hand, propels you forward because you have learned to open up, to receive events without defending yourself, to fight or run, without letting them overwhelm you, just being present in the moment and open.

For example, you can accept the death of someone very dear and close to your soul, but you do not have to resign yourself to this harsh reality.

The resignation here would be as follows: although you consider the disappearance of that person in your life unjust, although you still believe that destiny played a party or that you are a victim, being tired, nervous, angry at life and envious of the “lucky ones”, you are somewhat “forced” by your body’s self-defense system to give up the fight, to calm down (so as not to ‘boom’) and to resign yourself to not being able to do anything now.

Acceptance would mean admitting that the absence of that person is very painful, that you are deeply hurt but that you will be able to continue to live your life and to evolve further and beyond this person. You are aware that the relationship with her has changed you as a person and that you will always carry in you the effects of the relationship with her, that you will always remember what you learned from or with the past. You acknowledge the truth of the moment but without resisting it.

I believe that acceptance is the best and healthiest option in a long term.

If we choose to resign ourselves every time we encounter a difficult situation, the feelings or problems that we refuse to accept, can recur and can affect us more than in the beginning.

On the other hand, acceptance is a more difficult process from my point of view. It takes more time to work with you and your mind. You have to somehow train to accept any situation encountered. Maybe that’s why many of us choose to resign. It’s easier, isn’t it? I think it’s often easier to say ‘that’s it, that’s how it was, let’s move on’.

What do you choose? Acceptance or resignation?
