It’s all fun and games until you realize that time passes by and you find yourself stuck in the same ol’ mess you’ve been floating on for quite some time already. Then you have the wake-up call. The urge of doing something to change it. Now, new. But you can’t just do something in the middle of November, let’s say, right? Because that will be stupid. Nobody starts something at the end of the year. So you wait for days to fly away until you get to start “the new year, new me” project.
Right now, there are two kinds of people out there: the ones who have resolutions and the ones who make fun of them. And there’s me who thinks we are all the same after all. We all hope for something to change. It’s like that moment in high-school when you erase the blackboard, to write a new date and you know it’s time for another day, another class. It’s something refreshing about starting things with a clean slate. Even though is just an illusion. After all, we’re still the same on 1st of January as we were on 31st December.
We believe in new beginnings because we need to. We need to have a magic eraser which can delete all the mistakes, all the bad decisions we took, the break-ups, the make-ups. But we don’t. So all we have is this. A clean page in somewhat of a new year. So I am going to use it. New year, new page, new virtual page, where I can write the tremendous thoughts that are running in my mind so I can re-read it and make fun of myself in a couple of months.
Maybe this is the first time and the last one using this spot, maybe it will become a healthy habit. I just don’t know. Just let me believe in new beginnings, alright?
